Katrín Pétursdóttir og Michael Young M.Y. studio kemur að verkefninu með tvenns konar hætti: Annars vegar hefur MY hannað sameiginlegt rými þessa verkefnis (um er að ræða sérstakt gervi-landslag, nokkurs konar draumheim þar sem leikið er með stærðarhlutföll og fjarlægðir), og hins vegar er um að ræða hönnun KP á fígúrum (að meðtöldu blómi) sem settar eru í samhengi innan heimsmyndar Michael Young. Fígúrúr þessar eru hluti af myndheimi young&beautiful, en það er vörumerki og dótturfyrirtæki MY Studio. Fígúrurnar hafa mismundandi form og fúnksjón innan @-leiksins og er tilgangur þeirra að tímga þennan heim og búa til aðstæður fyrir leikmanninn (avatarinn). Fígúrunar eru hafðar mjög teiknimyndalegar til að vekja enn frekar tilfinningu fyrir leikgildi verksins. Þær skiptast niður eftir sálrænum þroska. Í efsta þrepinu trónir Divine, en hún stendur fyrir algott og alviturt afl. þá koma Speisenglarnir, tvíburar með barnslega, loftkennda líkama. þeir hafa einstaklega hreina sál og eru þar af leiðandi oft sérlega ráðagóðir. Næstur kemur Synapse, en hann var hannaður fyrir nokkrum árum af Michael Young í Japan. Hann stendur hér fyrir ofurhressa náunga sem vilja alltaf benda fólki á. Blob er meira svona eins og gæludýr; hann bara er og veitir fólki ánægju með nærveru sinni. Á víð og dreif í heimi MY eru blóm sem anda. Alkahóldogginn (hundur sem er byggður upp eins og alkahólsameindin) fékk að vera með af því það verður að vera hundur í sögunni. Þeir sem vilja geta látið hann túlka þá kemísku heima sem eru í kring um okkur og við getum hunsað, gælt við eða verið bitin af. Neðst í sálarþroskastiganum er svo slímgrúppan, en hún er afskaplega óaðlaðandi hópur sem reynir eftir mætti að klístrast á líf fólks. Þessi grúppa stendur hér fyrir almenningsálitið og smásálina sem þolir ekkert sem haft getur áhrif á hina hrútleiðinlegu tilveru þess og beitir kröftum sínum í að klístra sem flesta við sig. |

Born in 1967, Iceland. 1989-95 E.S.D.I., Paris.(Ecole Superieure de Design Industriel). Industrial Design Degree. 1995 Works at ESTEE LAUDER IMD in Paris developing advertising material for the cosmetic market. 1996 Starts working for PHILIPPE STARCK in Paris, concept and development of household products for ALESSI (Italy). 1996 Develops concept and design of a plastic(PET) bottle for the Russian market. 1997 Moves to London to work with ROSS LOVEGROVE, developing concepts and products for Italian manufacturing companies. 1997 Meets Michael Young. 1998 Develops a fashion range (Katrin Petursdottir for 66oN) in welded pvc. 1998 Develops concept and design of a PET bottle for Thorspring, Iceland, for the US market. 1998 Moves with Michael to Iceland to form MY Studio ltd. 1998 Setting up of S.M.A.K. iceland, an international contemporary jewellery company based in Reykjavik. My Studio creates identity for the company and undertakes artistic direction. 1999 Co-ordinator of my studio activities and projects for manufacturing companies. 1999 A new department of MY Studio, Young&Beautiful's, is established. First products come out on the market. calendars and Puffin soup posters and a y&b milk glass comes out with German glass manufacturer Ritzenhoff. 1999 Starting of monthly illustrations for Japanese magazine CASA BRUTUS, as well as illustrations for Japanese record lable Escalator Records. 2000 Design of television set for Sjadu produced by Pluton Productions. 2000 Design of graphic identity and campagne for ASTRO, nightclub in Reykjavik, Iceland. |
